When someone asks, “So, who are you?” we usually start with our name, followed by our job. Work is almost always our introduction.
Passion for work is probably one of life’s biggest traps. The word “passion” comes from the Latin passio (suffering), and “work” from tripalium (a medieval torture device made of three stakes). We tell ourselves there will be time for our personal lives later, that the opportunity is here and now, and we can’t let it slip away. We sacrifice almost everything for our professional goals—while our physical and emotional health slowly fades away.
LANA explores our obsession with work and how it shapes our lives and relationships. A 60-minute piece performed by five dancers, it premiered on February 1, 2025, at Gazteszena in Donostia.
